OpenWork Boosts Productivity

According to the 2014 Workplace Flexibility Survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), flexibility boosted productivity and reduced absenteeism at nearly all firms surveyed.
SHRM’s study asked respondents, “In general, have productivity and absenteeism rates of telecommuting employees who were previously working 100% on site increased, remained the same or decreased since these employees started telecommuting?”
Ninety-three percent said productivity had increased (26%) or remained the same (67%), while only 8 percent noted a dip in productivity. For absenteeism, 94 percent of respondents said that absences decreased (32%) or remained the same (62%) for those with access to workplace flexibility. A mere 5 percent reported an increase in absenteeism.
